戊午 is pillar 55 of the sixty: the yang earth stem 戊 Wu over the Horse branch 午 Wu. The last 戊午 year was 1978 and the next is 2038; the next 戊午 day is Dec 10, 2026. The San Ming Tong Hui gives it the image of the disc of the sun, and it shares the Na Yin Sky Fire (天上火) with 己未.

Why its Na Yin is called 天上火, from 「论纳音取象」
气过阳宫,重离相会,炳灵交光,发辉炎上
Its qi has passed the height of yang; Li meets Li, fire upon fire, and their bright lights cross and blaze upward.
Its Na Yin against the facing one, 霹雳火 (戊子 and 己丑)
霹雳天上,雷霆挥鞭,日月同照也
Thunderbolt and Sky Fire: thunder cracking its whip, and sun and moon shining together.

FAQ
Is 戊午 a good or bad pillar?
Not on its own; that depends on the whole chart, which this site does not read. Structurally, Wu is rooted in 午, which clashes with 子 and combines with 未.
What is the Na Yin of Wu Wu?
Sky Fire (天上火), which Wu Wu shares with 己未 Ji Wei; the Na Yin names go in pairs, 30 for the 60 pillars. The San Ming Tong Hui explains how the name was chosen in its 论纳音取象 section, quoted above.
Which years are Wu Wu (戊午) years?
Between 1900 and 2100: 1918, 1978, 2038, 2098. Each starts at Lichun, around February 4, not on January 1. Under the Chinese New Year rule the same years are the Year of the Yang Earth Horse.
