The Xin verse in the Di Tian Sui (滴天髓)
Verse traditionally attributed to Jingtu (京圖), with the annotation attributed to Liu Ji (劉基, Ming dynasty); quoted from Chinese Wikisource. The translation is ours.
辛金軟弱,溫潤而清,畏土之疊,樂水之盈,能扶社稷,能救生靈,熱則喜母,寒則喜丁。
Xin metal is soft and weak, warm, moist and clear. It dreads piled-up earth and delights in abundant water. It can uphold the state and rescue living beings. In heat it welcomes its mother; in cold it welcomes Ding.
The verse uses human words (kind, loyal, filial) for how the stems act on one another in a chart; it does not describe people.
What the annotation says
Xin is yin metal, not jewels and jade but simply warm and soft. Much Wu earth buries it; much Ren water makes it shine. As Bing's minister it cares for Ren water so that Ren does not attack Bing fire; as Jia's lord it combines with Bing so that fire does not burn Jia. Born in summer it wants Ji earth to shade the fire; born in deep winter it wants Ding fire against the cold.
The annotation opens with 「辛乃陰金,非珠玉之謂,特溫柔清潤耳」 (yin metal: not jewels or jade, simply warm, soft, clear and moist). Summarized in our words from the annotation on the same 天干論 page on Wikisource.
Metal in the Huainanzi (淮南子)
The Huainanzi, 天文訓 chapter, lists each direction with its element, season, planet and animal, and ends with the two stems of its days.
西方,金也……執矩而治秋。其神為太白,其獸白虎,其音商,其日庚辛。
Direction: West · Season: Autumn · Planet: Venus (太白) · Animal: White Tiger (白虎) · Note: shang (商)

FAQ
How do I find out if my Day Master is Xin Metal?
Your Day Master is the stem of your day pillar. Enter your birth date, time and time zone in the BaZi calculator; if the day pillar starts with 辛, your Day Master is Xin.
What is a Xin Metal Day Master?
A BaZi chart whose day pillar has 辛 (Xin) as its stem. Xin is the eighth of the ten Heavenly Stems, the yin stem of metal. The Di Tian Sui annotation describes it as yin metal: not jewels or jade, simply warm, soft, clear and moist (辛乃陰金,非珠玉之謂,特溫柔清潤耳).
What is the difference between Xin and Geng?
Both are metal. Xin (辛) is the yin stem and Geng (庚) the yang one. The Di Tian Sui annotation describes Xin as yin metal: not jewels or jade, simply warm, soft, clear and moist and Geng as yang metal, the essence of Venus. Xin combines with Bing and Geng with Yi.
Which stem combines with Xin, and which clashes with it?
Xin combines with 丙 Bing (the 丙辛 combination, associated with Water). It clashes with 乙 Yi.
How common is a Xin Day Master?

Where does Xin sit in the twelve stages?
In the usual twelve-stage table, Xin has its Chang Sheng (Growth) in 子 Zi and its Di Wang (Prosperity) in 申 Shen; as a yin stem it moves backward through the branches.
