Compiled by the Fengshui Zen editors · About and method
壬午 is pillar 19 of the sixty: the yang water stem 壬 Ren over the Horse branch 午 Wu. The last 壬午 year was 2002 and the next is 2062; the next 壬午 day is Nov 4, 2026. The San Ming Tong Hui gives it the image of the trunk and knots of the willow, and it shares the Na Yin Willow Wood (杨柳木) with 癸未.

壬午: the trunk and knots of the willow.
Why its Na Yin is called 杨柳木, from 「论纳音取象」
木至午而死,至未而墓,故杨柳盛夏叶凋,枝干微弱
Wood dies at 午 and is entombed at 未, so, like the willow, it drops its leaves in high summer and its branches are slender and weak.
Its Na Yin against the facing one, 桑柘木 (壬子 and 癸丑)
桑柘杨柳,一曲一柔,形质多别也
Mulberry and Willow: one bent, one supple, very different in form and substance.

FAQ
Is 壬午 a good or bad pillar?
Not on its own; that depends on the whole chart, which this site does not read. Structurally, Ren has no root in 午, which clashes with 子 and combines with 未.
What is the Na Yin of Ren Wu?
Willow Wood (杨柳木), which Ren Wu shares with 癸未 Gui Wei; the Na Yin names go in pairs, 30 for the 60 pillars. The San Ming Tong Hui explains how the name was chosen in its 论纳音取象 section, quoted above.
Which years are Ren Wu (壬午) years?
Between 1900 and 2100: 1942, 2002, 2062. Each starts at Lichun, around February 4, not on January 1. Under the Chinese New Year rule the same years are the Year of the Yang Water Horse.
