Compiled by the Fengshui Zen editors · About and method
癸卯 is pillar 40 of the sixty: the yin water stem 癸 Gui over the Rabbit branch 卯 Mao. The last 癸卯 year was 2023 and the next is 2083; the next 癸卯 day is Nov 25, 2026. The San Ming Tong Hui gives it the image of rings, clasps and bells, and it shares the Na Yin Gold Leaf Metal (金箔金) with 壬寅.

Why its Na Yin is called 金泊金, from 「论纳音取象」
绝地存金,气尚柔弱,薄若缯缟
Metal survives in its place of extinction; its qi is still soft and weak, thin as silk. (The San Ming Tong Hui writes 金泊金, gold leaf.)
Its Na Yin against the facing one, 剑锋金 (壬申 and 癸酉)
金泊剑锋,金木之辨,刚柔之别也
Gold Leaf and Sword Edge: metal on wood branches against metal on metal branches, the soft against the hard.

FAQ
Is 癸卯 a good or bad pillar?
Not on its own; that depends on the whole chart, which this site does not read. Structurally, Gui has no root in 卯, which clashes with 酉 and combines with 戌.
What is the Na Yin of Gui Mao?
Gold Leaf Metal (金箔金), which Gui Mao shares with 壬寅 Ren Yin; the Na Yin names go in pairs, 30 for the 60 pillars. The San Ming Tong Hui explains how the name was chosen in its 论纳音取象 section, quoted above.
Which years are Gui Mao (癸卯) years?
Between 1900 and 2100: 1903, 1963, 2023, 2083. Each starts at Lichun, around February 4, not on January 1. Under the Chinese New Year rule the same years are the Year of the Yin Water Rabbit.
