Chinese Valentine's Day, Double Seventh
Qixi falls on the 7th day of the 7th lunar month. It comes from the legend of the Cowherd and the Weaver Girl, two lovers kept apart by the Milky Way who meet once a year on this night; the stars Altair and Vega stand for them. Today it is often called Chinese Valentine's Day.
Korea marks the same lunar date as Chilseok. Japan's Tanabata comes from the same legend but is mostly held on July 7 of the Gregorian calendar.
